To help with research, I came across this online radio show - www.underthesearadioshow.com . There are a few shows on killifish, as well as others.

    How's everyones Killis doing???

My Jos Plateaus are producing about 10 eggs a day and I am incubating them in peat at the moment. Hopefully I can hatch and raise a few of them. my dagetis are not doing anything as yet, but they have only been alone for a few days now. post some new pics please!

    Update:

Have been collecting eggs for two weeks now (from the Fp Gardneri jp's), sometimes up to 20 a day and put the first ones in water at lunch time yesterday. Lat night about 10 have hatched and thsi morning they were all dead...:sad2:
I think I let them incubate too long and they did'nt have enough reserves left...

Will try again, still have some eyed up ones. ANY IDEAS ANYONE?

hmmm... I'm hoping to be doing this soon (minus the dying part). Was there food for them? Maybe give Wilfred a ring for some advice and let us know what he says. Good luck with the next batch.

No food... I thought I could see yolk sacs but clearly it was just their bellies... Investing in a major magnifying glass and microscope today. Barries says I let them incubate too long and they used up their reserves in the egg, - makes sense. Post some new pics please @Jenn I am very curious to see the growth rate on yours.

Maybe we shoudl start a new thread on this?

You said you've been collecting eggs for 2 weeks. I wouldn't have thought that would be too long. The Fp gardneri are peat spawners? Is that right?

I think they're mop spawners, maybe they're the ones that can go either way. But yeah, immediate feeding is the answer I think.

I didnt think so as well from what i have read, they are plant/mop spawners, had a new hatchling today and im watching it like a hawk - straight into fresh water, holding thumbs...

OK, 48 hours and no further casualties. 4 Wriglers right now and expect another 4 by early tomorrow if my (very limited) observations are right. Is this a yolk sack? - sure looks like one to me, so no food untill its consumed.

That's great! I'd still feed immediately though. Not huge amounts, but a bit. F. gardneri apparently has only a very small yolk sac or none at all (see here: http://www.aquaticcommunity.com/killi/gardneri.php ). That could just be the shape of the fry. My newborn endlers have the same shape.

Did put some microworms in just to be on the safe side, but saw no feeding activity ( and I was WATCHING them, he he he!)

    Busy hatching BS, hold thumbs!
