I have a 2.4m tank with only 5 fish in it as I was intending to get rid of the tank once the fish had died, but they are going strong! We are now looking at immigrating, so I need to find a good home for my fish. I have been lying awake at night worrying about them. :(

    I have the following:

1 x tyre-track eel - I feed it frozen bloodworm by hand. It does also eat some Tabimin if there is nothing else (I break them in half). It spends most of the day in the sandstone rocks.
1 x elephant nose - I alse feed it frozen bloodworm by hand. It lives in sandstone rock (man-made large rock with holes).
1 x "silver catfish" - not sure which one it is, about 15cm long. Also eats frozen bloodworm fed by hand and some Tabimin (prefers bloodworm). It is territorial and has a go at the eel from time to time when they both try to occupy the same space!
2 x spotted Raphael catfish - they eat Tabimin, but rarely seen as they stay in the same sandstone rock. They are almost as round as they are long! (only a few cm).

I wouldn't trust the eel with small fish!

I worry terribly about moving the fish as I know they can get quite disturbed and stop eating when moved to a different tank / surroundings.
None of them are "pretty" fish and tend to hide during the day.
If anyone may be interested in taking some or all of the fish, even the tank (about 20 years old and never been empty), please contact me. I would prefer the Raphael catfish to be taken with the sandstone (quite large piece) and I think the eel may be happier going with the sandstone it knows.

Please contact me if you are interested or have any suggestions about my options for these fish. I am trying to do what is best for them. They are all at least 15 years old. I believe the Raphael catfish can live to well over 30 years!

I am based in Everton, KZN.

Nice...that is a huge tank. If only you were closer to Nelspruit and i had a bigger house...hehehe.

Have you spoken to your LFS to find out if there are anybody that might be interested ?

Then there is also Gumtree, OLX or junkmail...

Thanks Leen. I thought I would try here first, hoping that an enthusiast would be interested. I worry about the types of people buying off Gumtree and the likes. I want a GOOD home for them. I still have time to look around and maybe you can find a bigger house! ;)

Any change of sending the fish to Pretoria. Maybe via Postnet? Tough journey, but they are adult fish and will be ok. I have the tank and space. Will be great to have some tank mates for my Bala, Rope and spiney Eel.
