    Wow, very nice tanks. Where did you get the impressive piece of wood, is it from a ana tree?
    In terms of fishkeeping, I think the nicest thing of living in namib is that you don't have our black list.

    Hi Good_Times, the wood is a root of a Mopane tree. We have lots of these trees in the north. Is the main food of the elephants. This one I bought it. Yesterday I went rock hunting and sand collecting. I have enough for ten big tanks! I selected the rocks I like for the next tank. Let me show them to you after and before the selection.

    @ogom,
    Lovely piece of wood.
    You get Mopani too in the UK - pay an fortune for a tiny piece.

    Thank you Luis. I see you are next door!!! Wow! Too many things happened since I brought back home the tank from Cape Town and Graham of Gapedi did a wonderful job with it. In the big tank I put the fish which were in the Rio 400 ( cyrtocara moorii and labidochromis caeruleus) and I added 3 baby frontosa but one ended up into the pump during a water change. Then one old pakistani loach I parked for a year with a friend and then I added two plecostomus: one clown and one king tiger. In the Rio 400 I introduced the 33 baby tropheus duboisi which are doing great and are now developing the adult coloration. In the Rio 300 I kept the few males aulunocara. Then last week I found Altolamprologus calvus and bought 5. So they are alone in the Rio 300 and the aulonocara in the big tank. The cyrtocara are breeding no stop. I fed 4 fry to the calvus which went for them but the fry are still too big and they are far too small. I took a couple of piccies just now. All the best.Gapedi 31.07.13 003.jpgGapedi 31.07.13 004.jpg

    I think I need to come up north to see these tanks in person! I am glad you got the tank up safe and in one piece, what did they say at the border about the tank on a trailer?

    Thank you guys! Jason.....no way to put a tank on a trailer....I fitted it into the car. Drove back home in one shot because I had the 33 babies tropheus with and my nose was stuck against the windscreen. I found a very nice breeder in CT, Tauriq, who gave me the most healthy tropheus I could hope for.I built the tank as big as the car could fit. I had to make a wooden platform because once I removed the back seats of the car the floor was not leveled. Many steps. You can come at any time. It would be great to meet in person and have a chat. I also finished with the renovation of the BIG TANK, the koi pond, which is now 28K liters.

    Luis, at the end of the day most of the equipment, for different reasons, I buy in Cape Town where there is a big offer and I have always been treated very well. Most of the fish I buy here but the tropheus I had to buy in CT. I did try to find them here but did not manage.
