hahahahahahahahahaha ek kry dit nogal baie. my oupa grootjie was half wallies half englels met n bietjie iers in ook nog. ja ek het vandag toevallig op die site afgekom en is baie beindruk met wat ek sien en hoor.

thx ek is mal oor die site. watse visse het jy in gedagte vir jou eerste tank?

 

Omdat ek n planted tank wil maak, kyk ek spesifiek na "schooling" vis. Op die stadium kyk ek meer na plante as vis.
Wil eers my tenk 100% reg kry voor ek visse insit. Gaan later n thread begin met my idees.

 

ja asb laat ons kan sien hoe vorder jy. en dan kan ons ook dalk idees kry.ek gaan die naweek my thread begin met my setup sal ook foto's opsit.
ek hoop jy geniet dit baie

 

Op die stadium probeer ek net om al die informasie te "process" :blink1:
Laat ek by die boeke uitkom. Lekker dag

 

@llewellynkearney Hi and welcome...looks like the Free Staters are finally waking up to the forum...

Bloemfontein's LFS leaves much to be desired. I have over the last year been a regular customer to all of them, until i started getting familiar with their techniques, etc. Now I only shop at one place for fish, mostly because the fish I buy from them have a much better survival rate during the first 2 weeks of quarantineing at home. They don't have a wide variety, but quality is good, and if your visit them regularly you fine a few jewels from time to time. The LFS I'm talking about is the one at the Game centre in Fichardtpark.

If you are looking for fish that are not so common you will have to order from the Sponsors in Cape Town or Joburg.

You can chat with Len regarding guppies. Your tank is a bit too small for swordtails, as they grow to 10cm or so. Any idea what kind of tetras you wanna keep. I would advise that you stick with one tetra species (for your tank) and keep at least 10.

 

hahaha yes the free staters are waking up.thx alot for the info will visit them this weekend still. im thinking of neon tetra's.

Hi and welkom by die forum. Ek is seker jy sal dit hier geniet en baie leer.

The quality of neons tend to often be not so good. Have a look at Harlequin Tetras. They are hardy fish and do not harrass any of your other fish. Corydoras catfish (corries) are very nice bottom feeders and there is a huge variety of species, but they require a very clean substrate which beginners often struggle with a little bit. There is a good thread in the beginner discussions section called "Fish to avoid as a newbie". It is right at the top of the Beginner discussions section. This will give you a good idea what not to look at.
