Looks huge. What are the dimensions? Glass thickness? Any idea on what type of fish and/or plants you're wanting to keep?

@JacquesVermaak - how do you propose to get that polystyrene to NOT float when you have put it into the tank - it is a problem quite a few guys have had and so far I have not seen any solutions ! If you check other posts you will see that is almost impossible to keep it down, unless you use the polystyrene as a mold, cover it with something like fibreglass or another product and then remove all the polystyrene. A few guys have spent hours and hours decorating the polystyrene and only to find it all ended in a disaster - just don't want that happening to you.

    :).

Did it on other tanks with success.

You will just have to wait and see.................

All will be revealed in time.

I've seen a lot of threads where they did a polystyrene background with great success.

I've seen several threads on here where it ended up a total disaster - if I had the time I would search for them - one was a guy in Durban and one in Pta - both of them spent many hours on doing it and then could not get it to stay down under the water. In fact if I remember correctly the one guy's backround suddenly floated violently to the top and hit his tank and left a small crack in the glass.
I also advised both of them at the time they were making it - to remove ALL the polystyrene as I know it was going to be difficult to keep it under water! That wretched stuff has the most unbelievable bouyancy properties.

My interest is purely shelfish - I want to do a backround for my own tank so as soon as someone has done it successfully - I want the formula :)

Update - Background about 30% done.
Will post some pics tomorrow and during the weekend.
Was thinking about new lighting for the beast.

2 of them should do the trick as the tank length is 2.3 meter.

@JacquesVermaak - hey Jacques - please post pics of the backround as you are doing it. I'm desperate to find out - I want to do the same thing for my big tank - so really want to see it every step of the build. Thanks
