JHB - time to check the heaters

Had the heater on for 30 min this morning, trying to figure out what the logic needs to look like on this. See the room was running warmer than the tanks so they are sitting OK at the moment - yes room temperature is a big thing. Not running a tank at higher temps also helps.

I have a Salton. Can't remember where I got it from. Was about 5 years ago. Had it up on the wall and used it twice. Realized it will never generate enough heat in the room and never used it until now.

Interesting, I can't find any other brand than the one we got at Makro (it's R399 for two panels, if memory serves me right). I remember those old school heaters that stand upright many many years ago when I was a kid - I don't see them anymore, they were great heaters.

 

Yes they were. Was the best place to warm your school close in the winter mornings.

Yes those asbestos heaters with the handle in the middle and red on light. Like a upright panal heater. And pinch it between your legs before you go to school haha. This brings back memories.

Hahahah yes we used to warm our school uniform on it in the early mornings while eating cereal... I'm glad I don't go to school anymore - those winter mornings were horrible, I had to wear thick wool stockings in high school, just to keep warm.

 

I remember those days. Theses days I warm my kids school colths on the oil heater before waking the up with warm school clothes. Once the kids start to dress I quickly make oats and warm tea for everyone.

 

Netram overnight delivered the 4x sonoff th16 and dedicated ds18b20 ... now I need to do some soldering and reprogram these bad boys.

By doing some very basic management - I am by luck or logic managing to keep the energy consumption acceptable in the fishroom.







This is only on two of the 300w heaters, I am sure I can improve on the others also. Under current conditions only the higher avg tank temp as set for 36degrees is leaking heat to the point that it needs to kick in every so often.

if you guys had a non- heated 1700x600x800 tank in the garage , due to the amount of electricity the heaters take , it's a cold water tank in winter below 20 degrees , and summer about 26 degrees , what single specie would you guys stock it?

Guppies and goldfish, specifically comets. The comets are commonly used as pond fish - they can withstand very low temps in the winter.

What about hillstream loaches. You can do an awesome river scape with that lenth.
