My 3 540 ltr tanks have a build in filter on the side turning over water 5 times packed with filter foam ceramic and matrix, my 400ltr has same set up, 1000 ltr has a 4 foot sump turning water over 4 times with matrix and plastic stuff used in koi filters
not using and air at on smaller tanks just pumps facing up, sick and tired of replacing air stones and air tubes
