    Ok, that's interesting..
The Geos keep the fry in their mouth for a good few days
They let them out for a minute or so them they all run back into mom or dad's mouth, its actually funny to watch

I got a cartoon picture in my head when I read your post now. At least there is humor in our little fish friends lives, at least for us

I had fun last night watching a bichir balancing sand on its head while it glided around the tank

She still looks 100% at the moment. Just heart breaking to see here looking on as the others feast.

Congrats on the success so far! A good read.

Have you not thought about stripping the eggs/fry? I've also been concerned when my cichlids are holding... they lose a lot of weight, and in some instances lose their pecking order in the group, which can lead to bullying. Maybe not this time round, but something to consider?

Yes... That I agree.... I always feel the same with the Geos
Dont know about the Gouramis but once the eggs hatch, the Mom and Dad take turns at keeping the babies in their mouth

Thank @SalmonAfrica. Havn't considered that option. Very new to keeping the Chocolates so I will leave them this time around as I don't want to desturb the natural prosess. If I remove the eggs there is always the possibility that they might get fungus which, in my opinion, is not worth it. Considering the stress I will cause to the fish during the catching, tank is heavely planted, and the stripping prosess.

I believe that she will be fine and will spoil her with the best food I can lay my hands on when she releases the fry.

I tend to agree with @pierreschoonraad

I dont know about stripping the eggs but the last spawn of my Geos, because they had spawned in my big tank with all the other big fish,
we tried to strip her of the fry and either we didnt do it properly or she actually swallowed most of them so that we couldnt take them and we landed up with 7 babies only
So I dont know... I guess it all depends how it goes but mine would have been eaten by the other fish so we took a chance.. didnt work so well

With a huge sigh of releave I can say that the female is eating again!!!!!

I spotted 6 fey this evening after giving them some food and 5 gouramis came out to eat. After 16 days she released 6 fry, that I can spot in the tank. Hands are shaking so much that I can't even take a proper video or foto's of them. For now this will have to do.

Thanks. You won't believe how much I actually aged during these past few days. Just so relieved that all of them are fine.
