Yes.... I know the feeling.. but lets be honest.... the reward is an amazing feeling...

They look a fair size in that picture and their color is prominent already
What are you planing on doing.. will they be ok if left with the parents or you taking them out?

I was actually shaking so much last night that I, for the safety of the fry from me squashing them, decided to wait a day before removing them. That was until I chatted to a friend that used the frase 'if they are still there'.

I am very please to say that I removed 14 fry to the cube. Only other tank I have running where the water is a match to the 2ft. Cling wrapped the top to build up the humidity above the water surface. I was actually never before aware of this but it is crucial for the fry as their labyrinth organ will only fully develop under these conditions..

I will catch a fry later today to do the same comparison as with the Kutubu fry. If I must guess these guys are about 5mm in size.

The cling wrap thing is pretty popular for breeding anabantoids in aquaria.

I'm wondering if a similar setup wouldn't be helpful for polypterus and such to develop their lungs..

Babies ate doing fine in their new tank. But meantime in the 2ft tank thinks are on a role. 2 females are holding eggs.

Due to paranoia I got myself a JBL test kit yesterday and is very happy, and relieved to say that everything is good.

    2ft tanks report card.
    27° with 6.2ph
    TDS 51ppm
    Amonia <0.05mg/l
    Nitrit <0.01mg/l
    Nitrate 20mg/l

    Cube.
    25° with 6ph
    TDS 81ppm
    Amonia <0.05mg/l
    Nitrite <0.01mg/l
    Nitrate 15mg/l

The tests were done before a wc with tank running for a week. 2ft gets a 20% wc weekly and cube will get a 10% dayley.5d8e9cf2fd041ed049faa1a0479bb867.jpg666180da008ec7758bdd10243d120586.jpg

I cleared out my guppy tanks to continue with the rainbow breeding. Never imagined it will be for chocolate gourami fry.

As long as I can get some Umpa Lumpas to help with the wc all is well.

Sadly 1 of the females don't have eggs anymore. In a way it is a good thing.

The fry are doing good in the cube. Swimming at all levels which is completely differant to the Kutubu fry who stuck to the top 10% of the tank for the first few week.

Female is still holding on to her eggs.

Just a very short video of 2 fry hunting foe zooplankton.

Thanks. What I have read is that if the female holds the eggs for more than 3 days it should be fine. Or at least that is what I could find in the little info available.
