So last night I sat infront of the cube. Did a count. Did a recount. Declared a dispute and did a recount of the recount. And did it over and over again untill I only got the same result.

So on day 9 there is defnitly 13 fry swimming around. Sofar it is going extremely good with these fry compared to the Kutubu fry. Defnitly helped to have micro worms for these guys from day 1.

Sadly it looks like 1 of the females is not holding eggs anymore. I'm not a 100% sure about the other female but she isn't eating, at the moment, so that must be a good sign.

13 is still better than none.
You seem to have a knack at breeding your fish.
First it was the Rainbows, and not the Gourami.
You must be doing somenthing right. Keep it up, whatever it is.

What leaves are in the tank? Is it a specific leave to achieve a specific ph affect?

Thanks @Pezulu. 13 is defnitly not an unlucky nr for me. Missing only 1 at this stage.

The Rainbows was planned breeding. The Gouramis was pure luck.

The leaves are oak leaves. The leaves are for 2 reasons in the tank. 1. To release tannins into the water, which does lower the ph. 2. As the leaves break down and decompose the have zooplankton growing on them. The Gouramis graze on this although it is more benaficial to the fry than the adults.

Ph is controled via the substrate, Leika, and the use of RO water. Keeps it stable at this point around 6.2

I always thought zooplankton was only in salt water. Learned something new today.

Not much going on at the moment. Fry is still doing great. No females is keeping eggs anymore. Will just wait for the next round of spawning to happen.

As this tanks lighting timer is set up to come on for 1 hour in the mornings, just to give light in the fish room for me to feed the fish, this is what I walk into each morning. Worth getting out of bed early each morning.0789ef3c3de8d97976878a69a3422d7e.jpgf035c7dac4d2f5c2694f507a2c85a556.jpg

Dont you find your chocs chase each other around a lot? My 4 were constantly chasing each other. I had them in a heavily planted 4 ft tank but it made no difference.

They have their peacefull moments but they do chace and flare a lot. Funny thing is that it is the females that does the chasing.
