I got my tank about 5 months ago, its only been running for about 2 months now, only 1 male guppy (had 2 females, over eager male killed them..or so I assume), 1 BN Albino Pleco 1cm, and Normal Pleco +-4cm (Pardon my knowledge).

    Substrate: PFS with root tabs.
Filter: Hydor 450 (reverse overflow, works quite well)
Heating: 2x Jager 150 (Placed in the overflow compartment)
Circulation: 1x 500L p/h pump (Seems to be enough)
Lighting: 2x 54W T5 6500k (its a quad ballast so it can take more if need be) only runs for 5 hrs a day.

Weekly Dosing of NPK, Fe, Trace and Daily Excel 7ml.

The Amazon Sword is doing really well! Pushing out 2 leaves every few days, everything else is doing ok and growing, the grass thingies is getting on my nerves, they catch circulating debry (i.e. Pleco poop). They have started producing runners.

Plan on getting Co2 next or the month after.

I just planted everything I could, to see what'll do well etc, keep what I like.

Will post some better pics in the near future, got a few extra plants from @francoisve last night!

As for fish, I don't really know what I want yet, though I know it'll be a community tank.

    Thanks for reading

*Edit oh ja, any criticism welcome! ^_^

I Like what you did so far, and don't stress bout the female g's, though if you go that route, match about 4 female minimum per male.
Once you have co2 running you will be stunned, you might wanna move some of the stems to the rear just in case.

A lot of people battle to keep plants alive on the first go.
BTW.. my helping paws get totally upset if they get splashed, but they will not give up the chance to even get into the tank, gotta love em!

    Nice one @Krefie !!

I agree with moving some of the plants back, you will have to do it sooner or later and later will mean root disruption...

Now DOSE them so I can get some offcuts!!!

    Thanks for all the replies,

Yup, I kinda knew I would have to move some plants to the back, though I did not know how everything would grow so I just planted and waited hahaha

    I'll definitely adjust accordingly.

Any suggestions on nice community fish?

My ph I measured this morning seems to be at 7.5 - 7.9 somewhere in that range. I wanted to keep a nice school of Cardinals but i'm scared I won't be able to keep my PH below a constant 7. Tap water here is 8.5+, I could go the peat route but my driftwood is already giving of so much tannin that my Purigen 700ml is saturated within 2-3 weeks.

    Any ideas welcome!

Looking nice man, dude dont worry about your PH most fish adapt to it very quickly.

The only time you need to worry about a certain PH is when you keep discus.

A nice BIG school of cardinals will looks awesome.

I would personally stack all the wood over and in each other to make it look more natural only my 2cents worth.

    Good luck.

    Nice start dude.

Cut the tall stems and replant. Keep doing it and real soon your tank will be a jungle :blink1:

Cardinals, harlequin rasbora, corydoras are awesome for a community tank. Plecos are not a good idea for a planted tank. They get too big and can be very destructive whilst trying to swim around. I had a 15cm common pleco that uprooted my plants on a daily basis! They also produce a lot of waste. Rather look at their small brothers, Ancistrus.

Lekker start, I love nothing more than a brand new tank with crystal clear water and a few stunning plants. I have to agree with @Hawk - start cutting those plants and replanting them to create more depth and thickness.

My tank cycled for about a month and still had no fish, so @francoisve gave me 3 of his killifish as he was running out of space. About 2 weeks after I bought the guppies and took the Killifish back to him.

During this mornings feeding time I noticed something swimming in my tank, low and behold Killifish fry. I'm so excited but I have no idea what I'm going to do with them.

    Its just so FRIGGEN kewl!

    Will post some pics tonight!

Just some shot, trimmed the front plants, replanted some at the back.

Can't get a shot of the Killifish, Counted 4 fry, so small. They seem to be living of the copods...

Just wanted to show that everything is growing nicely in PFS, without Co2
