I think it will depend on how many members we get this time. Then we could decide. Like we spoke about, we could speak to one of the stores.

Hi :) I am from Vryheid, KZN. At the moment I do not have many fish, I am re-stocking my tank. I am getting an algae eater tomorrow and looking at some guppies in the near future, but I would like to know if there are any tropical fish breeders in my area that I do not know about, because my options are somewhat limited right now and I would like to have a fair variety of fishes.

I think I haven't even introduced myself to this group. :embarrest:

Hey goldfish, you should try to make a trip to DBN and PMB to check out the LFS here, not the greatest selection, but I'm guessing it will be better than what you have there in Vryheid. btw, what algae eater are you getting? the normal chinese algae eaters or the SAE? be careful of the Chinese algae eaters, they become aggressive when they have grown up and will suck the slime coat off your other fish. Just my 2c :p

Very true. We don't have what the jhb guys have but northlands euro spirit aquariums, pine town pets are very good shops. We should all get together again like some of us did last year.

Hey Chongkie :) I do not get much opportunity to travel to PMB or DBN at the moment, but if I do I will definitely go check out the aquarium shops and pet shops. It is usually the first place I want to go to if I am travelling to another town, I just love going through all the pet and fish related shops. We had a great petshop here in Vryheid just a few years ago, with great prices and varriety and quality stock, but sadly they changed owners and eventually closed down. The only petshop that is left in my town now is not really worth mentioning, the cheapest item you can probably find there is something that looks like Java moss (think its like R8 a small bunch), and although I love the appearance of Java moss, I am wary of buying it there since I have had some bad experiences with fish illnesses from that shop (I won't give away the name) and for that same reason I rather buy fish from private breeders/sellers now too. I had to order my aquarium supplies from two different online shops, and even with postage it was still cheaper than buying it locally. So you see my dilemma lol. . .

About the algae eater, I got a Common Pleco (I am also wary of the Chinese Algae eater as I have not found much, if any, positive info on them). I know the Common Pleco gets quite big, so I am looking at investing in a larger tank as soon as possible, and I won't be keeping him with small fish either.

Sounds good. But will have to confirm closer to the time.
What you guys think of a meet and trade get together? I.e. bring your extra plants and trimmings, etc. And who wants what can have what?

    Wow lots of Malawi, kenyi?
I got lots of Greshaki, but it's impossible to catch them.
Will bring lots of plant trimmings, sunset hygro, h. Difformis, various rotalas, maybe some riccia, and will see what else.
