Oh wow. That is awesome! Congrats! Can you post a pic of your breeding setup? How long have you had them in their own setup for? I know some others in this thread mentioned already, but let us know when you're selling any if you're able to send them out of PE!

Saw these Acanthicus adonis at my lfs this weekend.
Quite attractive as youngsters, but these monsters can get to a meter in length.
Not really appropriate to be selling these imo, as not many people have a tank big enough to keep these.

I love L number plecs... But I am waiting for my pay day to come in, and I'm going to get 10 Zebra Plecs... Then try my best to breed the buggers!

Like I said, I need to win the lotto first. LOL!

But in all seriousness, I have my nice discus, and zebra plecs would be the next best thing. Same water, same fussiness, same alles... So it's just about being able to have the money to order 10 of them. One day.

    @Sean J,

That's part of the reason they are so expensive.
Aside from the issues surrounding their habitat etc.

For a Plec, they have relatively small brood size.
Poor hatching percentage and sow growth rate.

I have read of a few people who have grand ideas of breeding Zebras, making them freely available, and making a fortune in the process. But it never seems to work out

I know... But I will be doing it for the love of the fish, not to make a profit. I just want a big enough shoal, so breeding becomes possible. I do not want to have the colony only for breeding purposes, but for the rare fish collector in me.

Having said that, eventually, I want some real wild discus too.

    Absolutely.
I had a nice collection of Plecs at one stage.
    Never had a Zebra.

A friend of mine has a fish shop.
He had some Zebras for sale, but they were in his tanks for a while before he sold them. Prob due to the price. They bred from time to time, but he only got two or three youngsters from each batch.

Nice @jabula 7749! That pic of the eggs, did you remove them from the father? Aren't they meant to stay in the cave with the male? How the fry doing? How many have made it so far?

Yes they should actually stay in cave,I was busy cleaning the tank when and wanted to take some of the caves out when the father and the eggs came out,I knew he wont take them back.

Ive got 7 fry out of the 30 eggs, who are feeding nicely on food now!

Nice, can you post some pics of the fry when you get a chance. I'm going to move my Clown Plecos to their own setup soon as I think they ready to start spawning. Had them nearly a year now and seems I have male and female.
