has anybody been able to breed them localy and how difficult is it compared to ancistrus which are really easy ?

what is a good price if you come across them? there is a petshop here selling them for R2.5k each!

@PeterW, I'll suggest you speak to @Charles directly with regards to the L46's and their requirements, etc. They are not that easy to keep and R2,5K is the average going rate for them and quite difficult to breed. You will learn a lot from @Charles and reading this thread from the start to the end. HTH

Hi @PeterW, please read this tread from page one as @wsteene suggested. R2500.00 is an average price for L46 pleco's. My first one's was R3500.00 each, and both died! They are very difficult to breed and you really need to know what you do to achieve this. This is NOT BN pleco's that breeds as easy as guppy's. Read through the whole thread and if you still have questions please ask. I am NOT a Pro on L46 but I can share my knowledge and experience about them since I am keeping them for a while now, almost a year now. This species is NOT for Beginner aquarist!!!! Not saying you are, just saying in general.

    Hi @Hawk

My Zebra's are still doing great thanks. The small one is not that small anymore, it's now about 5cm. Still to small to breed with. The L333's that's with them has grown well and it looks like they are both female. Need to get a male now.

    Hi @TankMaster

Both my L46's are still doing great. I tried to take some pics of them but they hide so deep in their caves it's useless. The little one is not so little anymore. He/she has grown quite a bit and is now almost 3/4 the size of the male, but still can't tell it's sex. The L333's that's in with them seems to be females, so if anyone maybe has a male for me please let me know because I asked a lot of pet shops to import for me but still nothing including sponsors.
