Load Shedding 2011

Just to bring the thread back, the power in Vincent went off from 6 this morning and only came back on at 6. My tanks were shut down for 12 hours! And the worst part was the fact that is was a cold day and my tanks dropped by 5degrees.
So far no casualties and I can only get some microbe lift tomorrow. Hope my babies survive!

 

Well I guess tonights the night
Power went off at 8 and it looks as if it will only be back tomorrow
morning.
Guess the temp is about 5'C outside at the moment.
Covered all the tanks best I could.
So will see what's alive tomorrow and if this is just simply
the end of it all.

Vis, what back-up plans do you have. It is coming our way and I want to be prepared. I can not run the genie all night. So how about floating hot water bottle with boiling water in it in the tank?

Then there is still the problem of filter bacteria and oxygen in the tank.

How many tanks are you running?

 

Hi all, have checked and it is most definitely not ESKOM. News this evening mentioned the City council with problems. Keep your filters as clean as possible and reduce your feeding. Feed every 2nd/3rd day to reduce load.
