    Hi there

    So while I am here I may as well do an update
    I have been working at further development on my Blue Knight line.
    With each outcross and subsequent selection I am nearer to the end result I have been aiming for.
    It is not yet where I want it to be, but I have high hopes that i will get there in due course

    These photos are of a pair I donated to Pet Stop in PTA for their Planted Tank set up.
    The contrast between plants, fish and substrate, along with proper lighting really brings out the best in these Rams.

    I hope you like

    Rgds

    Marco

    @Marco,

    Stunning!
    But I think they would look even better with a red eye.

    Damn, that is really really sexy rams.
    Seriously cant wait to get my hands a pair of these. I think this is quickly becoming my favorite Ram variant, with the good old German Blues being a close contender.

    Really nice progress Marcos. Comparing them to the fotos you showed to us on Aug 2, well one can clearly see you are achieving some of objectives! Very nice blue color!

    Yes, they really pop with the green. Looks really good. You also couldn't see the intense blue\black intensity without proper lighting. I see the one has a blue lip, would be interesting to breed a black one with blue lips only, if that's possible.

    @Marco sorry if this question has been answered before but what is the minimum tank size you recommend for a breeding pair, species only plus cleanup crew?

    Thanks everyone.
    Glad to hear such positive feedback.

    @Reedfish - red eyes are coming

    @A new day
    A 60lit, standard 2 foot works very well for a pair. Then maybe add a few Pygmy cories and top swimming tetra's to add movement. One can do so much with small tanks nowadays, and I think it really is the most popular segment of the hobby at present. Small planted display with a small collection of complimenting livestock.

    @ODwyerPW - thank you. I still value a bit less blue on the body, and a bit more blue on the fins. I have a small spawn now of approx 40 fish which I am raising. They are only 3 or 4 days old though, so long way to go. But I will see what comes out of that and then decide on the next step.
    Red eyes are visible in some, but that in general moves me away from the colour selection
    As soon as they have more visible red in the eye, they also have more of a blue than black head. Not what I want
    Wish it was as easy as ordering them from a menu

    Regards

    Marco

    Thank you, that sounds like a lovely tank setup.
    My gut feeling is that the Blue Nights are going to become wildly popular.

    If you did that you could do a planted tank again and not have to worry about your rays becoming landscapers again! It's a win win! :D

    It's in the pipeline but need to get my new ray tank built first and everyone settled
    Once that's done I'm definitely going to do a small planted tank
