This might be a silly question, but I'd just like to confirm.

For plants requiring higher PAR demands as a result of weak insufficient LED PAR output/deep tanks/glass lids etc., is it feasible to double up to 2 LED bars?

If one LED penetrates the water and hits the substrate at 50par, would 2 LEDS bring it to 100par?

    Thanks

I don't think that 2 bars will increase the penetration as each bar will still be the same watts, your spread will be better. If you increase the watts it should make a differance. Or at least that is how I understand it.

No, adding more lights does not increase penetration.
I have 3 LED bars, what I did to combat the water depth and loss of penetration issue in my 50cm deep tank was to put in 20cm substrate - I also inject CO2, use Seachem Flourish Excel and various other chemicals to achieve photosynthesis.
My profile pic says it all (I have to trim tomorrow)

So, essentially multiple LED bars will in fact increase the amount of PAR hitting your plants.
What kind of LEDs are you using and would you happend to know your PAR rating?
    Cheers

    I use 3x Aqualantis LEDs
    CoolWhite: 67%, WarmWhite: 17%, Blue: 8%, Red: 8%, Temperature colour: 6800 K, Lumen: 3128, on a day / night , sunrise / sunset timer.

The PAR is about 180, it's been a while since I measured it as I don't buy the Seneye aquarium monitor slides anymore.

My Rotala wallichii, Nymphaea lotus 'Red', Rotala macrandra and Hemianthus micranthemoides are thriving. The Hemianthus has actually become a nuisance.

Remember it's a fine balance between light, CO2, fertiliser etc to avoid algae.
