:suspicious: the male destroyed the buble nest, now hes not building anymore but hes definitly intrested in the female and shes getting bigger and bigger. Why isnt he building the nest anymore?

Nope not a buble at all. I had to move my red male back to this tank in a seperate part cuz my 100L diy tank didnt work acording to plan. the male rest at the bottem the his fins goes to the next part where the young 2 females are, so maybe they nipped him but might be the glass aswell. So when i dit put him in this tank the male im trying to breed has gotton allaggresive and showing off like he never did before, so maybe he needed a bit compitition lol. So what can i also add to the water for the fins just to help cure and prevent more damage?

I must be honest with you, I really dont use any kind of meds....just clean water, water changes 28 deg C, good food, and it will sort itself out. I believe the less meds the better. But if you really want to, some almnd leaf extract can do some wonders. Apparently a tea bag will also help, but dont know 2 much about it.

Try the rooibos tea bag - please dont use normal tea :p

It works in the same way that the almond leaf extract but it is more readily available than the almond leaf extract. It also boost the fish's immune system. When I have tea bags in my tanks my boys go bonkers and become very happy. I saw the other day that my new guy had built a nest that covered 1/3 of my 70L tanks surface in 2 days!

I find the rooibos tea gives my boys a kick start and it also helps repair torn fins, clears up finrot (with proper water changes). 1 teabag per 30L, I leave it in over night. Most of my tanks have some trace of the rooibos in it. I tend to brew a cup an hour before I do water changes as well and add 1/3 of a cup of strongly brewed tea, to all my tanks once a week - instead of doing meds. So far I find it works well.

@HennieRoux , i just released the female with the male. She is swiming after him the whole time, and he just started to build the nest. So does this sound good so far? Her vertical stripes has gotten alot darker now, and shes looking at the nest the whole time

He stoped building, and from around 7 to 10 he was very agresive and the nest was nothing. I removed her before more damage

Remember to give her some hiding places, being agro is part of the spawning ritual....some females takes allot of beating!

Hi Marius, some people use the foam cup, others buble wrap, I use plastic plants. They all seem to work just fine, so how ever your fish feel comefy with and what ever works for you.
