Hey guys, been a while since i have posted. Since I took this octagonal tank off
someone hands I got a great idea to start a nano. As it is the trend here on TASA lately
I have decided to follow suit. It fits my budget(lol low cost ) and it just seems
like less work involved compared to a full out tank.

This tank is not big, each side about 10cm and +-30cm high. I've yet to calculate volume etc.
I've got a few ideas im juggling around. I still need to make a lid aswell, sort out some pfp.
Im not use to all the vertical lines but I think I can live with it

Hi Speeds sounds like you are looking for a challenge.
I would not go with pfp in a setup this small, algae starts becomming a problem.

All the vertical lines make it a bit hard to scape so consider a centre island type scape and may plants that can grow
    out of the water body.

I was not aware that pfp promotes algae. I will reconsider using it. What are my other options?

Im not sure about the emersed plants but I will look into it.

Must say do agree with VIS about pfp in small volumes. You planing on using a HOB? Something like a string of anubia nana up a nice peace of drift wood .. consider bare bottom.

Pfp itself does not promote algae. Itys just that in a tank this small you can't have enough plants to use
all the availible food in the water leaving some for algae to use.

okay so pfp is out and its just sand for the moment

I was actually considering that anubia and it is available here.
And if I can get some B. monnieri I might just use that(think its available here also)

I have a HOB ready to use but I just dont think its necessary, I would rather use
    a small power head instead.

As far as fish go I dont want to put any in there although a siamese fighter
would look awesome in there, any thoughts on this?

@f-fish thanks for the diagram :)

what do you guys think of mineralized soil?

siamese fighters cant handle the current from a power filter... but that is probably the best fish option you can go for.
