iv also never heard of one variant growing faster than another.oscars kept together with me at least always grow at a similar rate.

This is from personal experience, i had to start out with 5 small albino's to get a pair of 2. and then take the other 3 back to the LFS cause of being picked on, which was owned by my friend at that stage, and could see in his shop how the tigers grew quicker than the albino's maybe its just cause they eat more.

Thanks noodle, though I am shocked at some of the price differences at some of the LPS I bought the little ones for R65 each. Then I visited another shop this morning and they also had fish but 3 times the size for R50 each, so somewhere someone is making a killing.

So this morning I woke up and was greeted with the 2 Oscars seriously dukeing it out and hurting each other so I decided it was best to take them a breeder friend of mine who has a bigger tank for them. So he swapped my two little ones for a single bigger red Oscar. Till I have saved up for a bigger tank (500+ liters) then I will get him a partner.

So after I took the two little fighters back were they came from I came back with a single fish after much though and looking I saw a scruffy looking Red Oscar in the one tank that caught my attention and I am a huge fan of the little underdog so I bought him back with me. Will get him a friend as soon as I get the bigger tank I am aiming for a 250liter is just not enough.

looks lovely Larch, I had a red oscar in a tank the same sized as yours. The one thing that was so special with him was that he was very affectionate towards me, if you can say that. You'll love him in no time
