OK so this is what it looks like now - similar but different. You can compare it to the first pics I uploaded at the beginning of this thread - @Macmish and @Mugsy

Don't know how to delete the second pic!!

Thanks @Mugsy - I have changed the substrate you notice - @Altum suggestion, I took all my pea-gravel out, bought a sheet of ABS plastic , cut it to size to fit inside the tank ( like wall to wall carpeting) smothered it with marine silicone, and stuck my gravel onto the plastic/silicone. So now I have what looks like a gravel bottom, and just makes it SO much easier to vacuum than all the lose gravel I had before. It is as good as having a bare bottom tank, without seeing the glass and the reflection from the lights that I hated. Works so well I am very chuffed.

Nice , really awesome tank @eros111 , If I had enough money, a massive discus tank would be my first choice.

is the gravel you used expensive? im looking to cover my 1000L with a gravel similar to that but im a student on a budget. so obviously looking for the most cost effective solutions to make an outstanding tank that could maybe be half as nice as yours

    thanks
