Landed 4 wild caught heckels on Monday.



Still a bit scared but doing very well and eating.

Here's a feel good story for today. I was given a fish that was in a tank that burst and found on the garage floor by the previous owner. The fish had no fins and was lying on the bottom of my tank for a few days after she arrived. I saw potential in her so didn't give up and nursed her back to health. She's breeding now and already had a few beautiful babies.

A few weeks after I got her, you can still see the damage badly, this was around Feb.


Halfway there.


And what she looks like now. You an see the damage on the fins still. It grew back into a point on the anal fin but that's fine.


She paired up with one of my males and they make a great pair, no flaws on the fry that I could see. Will post a few pics of them later.


One man's trash is another man's treasure.

You give them to someone and then that person gives you ridiculous amounts of currency in return.

Yes, it was a shot in the dark but after a while you can tell if a fish has water damage or genetic flaws. She's a little stunted also but that doesn't matter because she gave me over 400 eggs yesterday.

 

The eggs go right around the cone, you can make it out somewhat.
