New 5ft ca cichlid tank.

both is from the vieja tree but i like the colours more of the zonatus.

 

got my baby

have a few pictures of my vieja, he got some cuts from when they try to catch him but will get better soon and get his colour back in full soon.

 

he is +-27cm and one stong cichlid

Thanks guys.. love him and its great that i have him back and not lose all that hard work i did.

But he has the tank to him self. when i am at the tank he comes to me but if my dad or sister comes close he goes to the other side lol.

got a few beter pictures of my vieja and last night my vieja showed its power by moving my internal pump about 6cm+- in the process making me wet as i was adding meds to the tank lol

My vieja is doing great now, more active and eating well.

 

small update

I have mixed his diet with three differend haikari pellets and two differend frozen foods.

I have also change from once a day to twice a day feeding and i must say he loves it.

I i just love him more every day..

 

i just love this veja and picture quality is excelent too.

 

@rednox what kind of maintenance do you do on his tank if i may ask.the tank looks vre clean and healthy

 

Hi

I do a water change of 10-15% once a week or every second week, same goes for the gravel clean and internal filter pad.

and my canister pad a change every 6 weeks or so. and the glass i clean when need be.

 

Got two goals for my Vieja Zonatus (Oaxaca cichlid)....
FIRST: To get him to be one of the biggest zonatus in SA or even the biggest
SECOND: Try to get my zonatus to be one of the best looking once in SA..

Will give me a big sense of pride...

 

@rednox , how would you know if you have achieved these goals?

 

Not a 100% sure but i am not far behind, i compare my vieja to once from overseas(monsterfishkeepers site) that helps to give me a idea. Once he gets to 30cm + then we start to make wave for the best vieja in sa how i will go about it not sure.
