He's obsessed with his Haworthias  I think they're what got him into collecting succulents as a whole. He's forever on that Kambroo website looking for new ones to add:lol:

I love the tins!! especially the older looking ones!

Haha I also struggle with stone plants. I learnt from my boyfriend how to keep them alive. Basically lots of sun (when they start stretching out they're not getting enough - they should be flush with the ground, and very little water)

My nursery that I work at gets them in now and then, but it's not a regular thing. So you'd need to just keep checking at your nursery or ask them specifically. Otherwise online webbsites like Kambroo sells them. They're under the name "Lithops".

Lithops are found over much of South Africa from the Highveld, through to the Karoo, Northern Cape and over much of Namibia. Over this distribution, there is a big a variation in rainfall.

In cultivation, as has been said above, they need as much sun as possible. And grown in a very free draining soil.
Keep dry in winter. In spring, they form new leaves in the fissure of the old one, absorbing the water from the old leaves which will shrivel. It's important not to water at this stage as it will disrupt this process and you may get plants with both old and new leaves, which isn't natural.
After the old leaves have completely been absorbed, water once every few weeks until they flower (or don't) in the autumn.

There is a very good book by the Don of Lithops - Desmond Cole. Not sure if it is still in print, but well worth getting if you can.

Titanopsis - close relative of Lithops
    A bit easier to grow.

Growing plants (succulents etc) is like fish keeping. It gets VERY addictive

The thing is I have 2 balconies and one is pretty much unused so I'm gonna be adding some life to it. These succulents seem to be made for me coz I can even forget to water them and that's not a problem haha

A good 6 hours of harsh sun I'd say... But remember the sun is super hot here so I would assume that would also be too much
