    hi guys,

so i have a 60L community and recently the missus fell in love with Bettas (you may have seen some threads posting looking for bettas of a certain colour

well after weeks of hunting for our phantom cadburys purple crown tail betta male...i finally gave up because we missed our chance and never saw another one again....

    then I found this dude.

    DSC01180.jpg

after watching him for what seemed like hours, i couldnt resist and rescued him from his 10cm betta box in the LFS to my 60L tank filled with interesting things to look at!

the missus fell in love with him and decided that the betta MALE was to be called Peaches!!

oh well...thats his name...kind of suitable because he is not at all aggressive to the other tank inhabitants...the neons like to follow him around, they must love his colour haha! he eats with them, they are not scared of each other and really have got on well!

he actually seems to love the flow and plays in it for a long time until he is tired and goes to a calmer area or sits on the top of the moss wall

he certainly stands out as the colourful member of the tank, really catches the eye compared to all the green and dark colours.

hopefully he is loving the amount of plants and places to explore...gotta be better then a small box

    very happy!

hope u like the pics, sorry for dirty glass...i know theres lots of green spot algae on glass.

Nice looking betta, maybe a little thin.

Make sure he does not overfeed when you feed all your other fish.

he practically scared the crap out of me this morning!

the light went on automatically and i saw him curled up in a ball near the gravel on some plants... thought he was dead!

walk over to the tank and just as i got there, realised he was sleeping haha

now he is swimming around the tank as usual...guess he just needed a moment to wake up :p

Hello all. Ive been very inactive for a long time

this is the same tank as it looks now... 2 years after i started this thread

Been through many changes, battles and fell in and out of love with the hobby (neglected the tank due to time constraints etc)

Ive settled for this. Lets see how it grows and develops. This scape is 2 weeks old. hope you all like

I know Betta males shouldn't be kept together, but can single males be kept in any community tank ?

depends on their personality...you wont know until you try. some are fine, others are not

i was lucky that my male happily lived with about 20 other fish for more then 2 years until he passed away

    small update

everything has settled in nicely after 4 weeks and you can see the plants are growing again and looking healthy.

as you can see the christmas moss wall at the top right has shrunk, i gave most of it away to an APSA member but it will grow back fast im sure :) (and i put on a black background)

i set up DIY Co2 just the other day, getting a bubble per second and its diffusing nicely - the plants are pearling and releasing tiny o2 bubble streams

will keep you updated...perhaps this should be split into another thread...seeing as the old scape and Betta are RIP... oh well
