I would do 50% daily or at least every second day. U will need more discus for even pecking order but that's irrelevant at the moment. Search the discus tank on Facebook to get hold of Marco he sells he's beef heart mix and his in pta. He also has in depth understanding of discus.

Just like to add, don't get from the butchers, there's hormones in our red meats. Get from Marco if he has, he helped me out a lot. Benkers mix is what you are looking for. In the mean time while you are looking you can feed ostrich fillet. You freeze it, grate it, add a little fresh garlic clove. Press flat in a ziploc and freeze again. I add prawn tail and some vitamin flakes to mine as well. This is safe for discus as a food mix. I feed this to make my bought mixes last longer. Be aware though, grating that fillet is a workout.

Hikari , ocean nutrition, and seachem. For me but having yellow discus at the moment can't feed commercial foods.

Woolworths almost always has the fillets, I was serious about the butchers meat hahaha. The fillets are a bit pricey but it will last a very long time. There are no commercial foods in SA that's always available for discus. You might find some now but next month the shop is out and you have to wait till they order again. The flakes and pellets also doesn't have the same affect as what the ostrich will have. Discus needs lots of fat and protein in their diet when young.

    @WadeSmith

Reading up on discus before you buy them is very important!
Think you really need some reeding to get yourself up to speed with discus needs!

Discus does not do well in small groups, you need at least 6 or more for them to feel safe.

What filtration do you have and what is your water temp?

    Is your tank bare bottom?
Your tank is too small and you need at least a 4ft to grow them out.
Then small discus needs regular feedings 5 to 6 times a day,not bloodworm as they mentioned bloodworm is no good.
If you want to look after them try and get hold of Marco in pta he will sell you some food.

Then get some seachem stability and add it to your tanks, but also add half a gram of non iodized salt per liter,it will help them breath easier!

There is tons of information on TASA about discus.
Go to the search station and search discus food,Prof Dirk Bellstedt did an awesome write up about it a few years ago.

Read read and read,if you look after discus and their needs they can be very rewarding,if you dont you will just be another person to say they are hard too keep, but they are not.

    Good luck

    Charles

Cool thanks BoelderBeestie i will have a look at woolworths for some ostrich fillet.

Jabula i have done my reading on discus and i do understand that they have to be in groups of 6 or more, but i took a chance with 3 and they are happy with each other and not fighting or anything, its just the one that still seems a bit stressed out. About the tank size, i have mentioned to BoelderBeestie my future plans for my discus. In a few months i am going to get a tank between 250L and 350L to put those 3 discus in then i will add another 3 discus, i also currently have a 240L so i can always transfer them into that tank too, but still deciding if i want to buy another tank or transfer them to my 240L. So my plan isnt to grow them out in the 120L tank, i just thought it would be easier to maintain the tank for when the discus are still young as they require a lot of feeding and very clean water when young so i can feed a lot and still clean up the tank when there is left overs.
But as you say, reading is key and you can never read enough so the more the better. Thanks for the link, i will read through it.

Oh i almost forgot, so to answer your other questions:
It is a bare bottom tank running at 29-30 degrees.

Haha i know you are very curious for some pics BoelderBeestie, but unfortunately i will have to make you wait another day or so. That one stressed out discus is improving a lot and swimming around much more than before, i also did about 60-70% water change so i dont want to switch the lights on today to take pics as im sure the water change was enough stress. And like i said, the back and bottom of my tank is black so you cant really see anything in pics with the lights off. But dont worry i will definitely takes pics as soon as i see its comfortable for the fish to switch the lights on. So maybe tomorrow if that one stressed discus is still doing fine and improving.

Glad to hear they are doing better. Seems its only the stress from the move, they'll be eating like pigs soon. When they do it makes this cool little clicking sound. I'm actually just curious as to what type you got haha.

Thanks BoelderBeestie, well like i mentioned earlier the 2 discus that came from the same tank at the lfs were eating from day 1 so they have always been eating like pigs haha. The other stressed out discus was eating but very little, so lastnight he started eating more than usual and he is much more active than before so i think things are picking up with him. Oh and he is swimming around with the other 2 as well, now and then he would swim away from the other 2. I also spoke to Marco yesterday and going to buy some of his food tomorrow afternoon.

Well i can give you the names that were written on the tanks at the lfs but not really sure if its correct, i mean people can sometimes get confused. But anyway the 2 that came from the same tank are called Royal Blue discus and there were two names on the tank where i got the other one discus, the names were Blue Turquoise discus and Red discus. So im not sure which one i got from that tank. I suppose once you guys see the pics maybe you can tell me exactly what they are because i mean like i said im still new to discus.
