I am quite excited, as stated above the wait is killing me.

    Yep, no cutting corners.

Luckily this female gives me a chance to test and work out any kinks in the system, will give me an idea of how much to feed and what to feed, if its possible to go a month without a water change, best temps to run them at ext.

It is a 150L tub, but I only added 75L. So instead of a water change I might just add more water each week to avoid spikes in the system. Im not too sure yet.

I do have a tub above their setup with fresh RO water that I drip in to the system to keep the salinity stable.

In 4 days time I got about 4L of evaporation. So about 1L per day roughly.

Rebuilt my outlet system again, was capped at around 1500L/H

With the new system I almost get 7500L/H. Gives me more room to play.

Some news again, got 50 or so more Amano’s.

Currently just temperature acclimating them to the marine setup then they will be going in.

Btw, the sponge filter isn’t on.

Tried taking a macro shot but they are TINY. Really hard, think I need to invest in to a microscope.

So little update on the system, installed new mesh today (what a pain in the ass)…..

Also added lava rock substrate to a couple of tubs.

    Installed some heating

Currently only running 480L of the 1500L capacity that I have and will slowly add more systems as I receive stock.

    Dosed water with

    Prime
    Stability
    And Bio Boost.

Probably a little overkill but oh well.

Going to have the system run for a while, test the water.

Then if its all good I’ll add some fish, run it for a while.

    Test again

Then I’ll add the shrimp to the system.

All the shrimp are currently in 50L temporary tubs with sponge filters ext.

They will be moving to the system as soon as I’m happy that it is stable.

Quite exciting all this. Are you planning to breed to sell one day?

So just an update, more like a note to myself actually haha.

Amano’s from the 10th are still going strong.

I have ran tests on 35-34 Salinity and they seem to not do that well on such high salinity.

Recommended temp is 24 but they also don’t seem to like it that cold. Still running tests on optimal temperature.

Food source they seem to do better on preserved foods.
Feeding twice a day and every 3rd day dried foods.

Still have to get algea going strong to test that out.

They are around 3mm in size currently.

The way they swim has also changed.

Take a rock and submerge it in an ice cream container or something similar and leave on a roof or area that gets majority sunshine in your yard and you'll have a quick start of algae on this rock.

I love how you're documenting this process, it's a lovely journey to be able to watch happen

I would like salt water algae,

But I spoke to a couple of people and they said it would be near impossible to get my algae growing in my tank cause its a bare tank. I would have to get a “starter culture “ to get it growing in my tank.

I still want to set up a different tank with actual live rock and some hard coral and test Amano’s in there. But that will be for a later time. Still figuring out a system for flow that wont hurt the Amano’s.

I do have an idea for this but I’ll build the prototype in a couple of months and go from there.

I still have to test with fresh water algae tho, only problem is it dies off in the salt water.

Blonde moment I completely forgot you would need Salt water algae, pretty sure with salt water in a bottle you can achieve the same in the sun?

I also think given your tubs having no light penetration and you have no lights to actually get algae to grow.
