So I brought my GF’s father a nice big 15kg piece of rock. The big one on the left.

Rearranged the tank as he wanted it and also put in some plants haha.

    He loves his tanks.

The following plants were put in,

    2x Buce Silver Grey
    5x 10gram Christmas moss
    1x Anubias Barteri
    1x Anubias Barteri thick leaf
1x Anubias Barteri short and wavy

Edit: still need some Anubias Barteri Nana Petite

There are quite a few people that have bred them successfully.

It’s just not worth it on small scale cause of the costs involved.

So good news and almost bad news…

    Good news..

Amano’s are still going strong, 12 days in (feels like 12 years)

They have started with their forwards then backs swimming, they are getting huge compared to the size they were when I put them in.

I am now feeding 3 different types of food. Tank parameters are still stable, no need for a waterchange yet.

    Almost bad news…

I had a light pop on me some time late night / morning hours, I suspect it caused a surge in the system as it popped my one Breaker in the DB 20amp and the main DB it routes to 40amp.

This caused my entire system to shut down, heaters and all.

Luckily every night at around 9-10 PM I close all my systems to insulate them(as I have not done the main insulation yet around the whole system), I don’t need to close them as the water drops to 24 when it is really cold outside, but I do it anyways.

Tanks dropped to 20-22C, with it being 3C outside this morning and I am so glad I close them off every night.

I freaked out when I saw nothing was running and honestly I was expecting the worst due to how cold it was, but after removing the insulation and checking the water temps I was super relieved, did check on all the animals and they are all good, believed they will be as the temp didn’t drop too far.

It’s a lot of work closing each tank every night, but this just proves that doing a little bit of effort, even if it’s not necessary, can save you a lot of pain and heartache if something happens outside of your control.

Glad the amanos are doing so well.
Yikes about the broken light causing everything else to shut down! So glad all the livestock were fine and nothing was too badly affected.

Building some breeding / raising tanks,

FYI excuse the dirty table, didn’t want to use the big table for this small tank lol.

Still got one to do, will have to use the big table for the other one.

Also added some 100 or so more baby Amano’s to the marine tank
