@woerman - It does look like it will turn out cheaper. I just got a quote for 87% reflective material and It will cost me R290 of which I only need half the sheet so if I can split with someone else will cost me R145 for 4 reflectors. So to manufacture 4 T5's with reflectors I am looking at R765 plus the wire - R800.00 which I don't think is too bad compared to R1800 for an oddysea...

@hviviers75 - I got it direct from the manufacturer. They are not supposed to sell to the public but...:blink1:

@hviviers75 - A sheet of 1.25x1m x 0.4mm thick with 87% reflectivity cost me R290.00. I only require half and have someone to take the other half. You should get it cheaper as Alanod are up in Joburg.

okay cool dude, will see if I really need it cause I dont grow live plants. Sure 2 x 54 6500 sylvania tubes will be more then enough for my tank.

With that lighting you are going to have dark spots (your tubes are 1.2m long) but that might work quite well. A light and a dark side to the tank. In that case I wouldn't worry with reflectors. In your case I would just use a high gloss enamel inside the canopy to reflect.

The lights I got are seriously bright, I kind of feel sorry for my fish :push:

I will see what I will eventually get for the tank.

But you have 4 tubes @SloMo.00. and probably have them staggered? I think for a non planted tank, having a dark and light side to the tank might be cool.
@mydummyname - I can't wait to see the finished product either. I know it's selfish but my wife needs to hurry up with her exams so I can get some DIY time :blink1:

Cabinets do cost a lot. I will do a cost breakdown when I'm done. DIY is definitely saving me cash though.
