Opple T5 28W

Just got some 4ft (28W) units at Game in Cresta. Price was R130 all in. I am very happy with the growth on 4 ft clear and that tank only has 1 4ft and 1 3ft opple on it at the moment. Yeah I have replacement tubes but have had zero issues with any of these units.

Did a quick reflector / mount - this is how they are running on 4ft clear for a while now.


Corrugated ABS sheet - slit down the one side and then folded, cable ties to keep the tent and lights mounted.



Tension the the ties so that you get a 90 degree bend going - note that the light fits snug in the centre at +_ 45 degrees.



a shot from below the lights in the tank shows the difference between a new T8 Phillips and the opple T5 truth is the reflector on the T8 makes a big difference, still it seems to work fine.

Nice work! They are a great alternative to expensive lps versions...

 

Agggrrrr so never had any issues with the Opple T5's 3 or 4 ft ... till Wednesday - on BlackJack the 3ft T5 was dead - wired a spare 4ft to the tank. Luckily went to Cresta Game this morning and to my surprise they had 3ft tubes - 2700k and 6500k (did not have them a week ago) At R43 a each, I got 4 65's just sommer.

So all good again.
