Overflow box for tank with a brace

Thanks for all the replies guys.

That Reef Octopus overflow is nice but will cost more than the tank, so that's not going to be an option. I have tried the DIY pipe route and is hideous ugly and i had some real issues with getting it to work correctly. Last night i put together a design for a overflow box that consists of 2 boxes, one inside the tank and one outside. I am going to price some perspex and see if I can make that work. The only real concern for me is the toxicity of the glue. Anyone have any experience on that front?

If I can find no joy there, I might 3D print it. It certainly would be easier, it just takes so long to print parts. And then there's problems with the way you water proof ABS.

agreed, the pvc overflow setup looks hideous. I've had them in my tanks to.. agreed that the price on the overflow is a little hi, but I have to admit that by the time I was done making overflows to look nice and work, I had landed up spending more.. keep us posted on the 3d printing...

 

But does the overflow work? I am in the same boat & don't want to drill my 750L tank

 

The pvc and hang on the back work well.. had pvc overflow on my 1.5m and 2,2m for a long time before I decided to go with the reef octopus overflow..

 

I don't suppose you have one of those overflows available? To sell maybe?

 

unfortunately not, we did a clean up a few weeks ago and all got dumped...

 

Did you use a overflow like in the photo I posted , would like to know which prototype worked at least the best for you? Pls do help...

I just got a quote on some perspex. Lets just say my use of superlatives will get me thrown off this forum. Holy cow. Ill whack out the STL's tonight and start some printing. I might just start another thread here in the DIY section.

@nelf... sorry for the late reply. ye I used the same setup as the pic you have posted.. I had mine done in 40mm PVC pipe to cope with the flow from the 5000l pump from the sump
