    @pHish_man,

    I have heard people say that Discus are more difficult to keep than marines.
    Is there any truth in that?

    I have been so keen for a reef tank for a good few years.
    But the perceived difficulty (and cost!) put me off

    @Reedfish

    I run a fish only with live rock tank where I have a pair of frenatus clowns, yellow tail blue damsel and a scopas tang who ive had for 5 years almost. I lost a chaetodontoplus mesoleucus last week that ive owned for more than 10 years. It was the oldest fish ive ever owned.

    Now as far as a full blown reef tank goes.....that's a loooooong budget.

    @pHish_man,

    Yes, it is.
    But if I was to have a marine tank, I would defintely want some anenome and other polyps.

    Anemones are one of the more finicky things to keep.

    Marines are not that difficult, but really expensive.

    No worries @Reedfish wasn't aimed at anyone, just didn't want this thread to get derailed, which can so easily happen.

    Yes she is a beaut isn't she.

    So you see it lives up to it's alias the dark side after all see how it creeps in uninvited. Apologies Andrew.
    I just love the red dorsal fin. I have always loved the way a discus's pectoral stands out and how wispy it gets with time, the deap red colour is also great on this fin. I think I just change the one I liked from the pic earlier mentioned. See if you can change my mind again.

    Hey Jason, those pelvic fins are an intense red aren't they. It's interesting that the adults here are all from the same parents yet there is a huge variation in the phenotype. I will show 2 pairs I'm hoping will breed this season and you will see they are completely different in colouration to the little one I show above.

    unfortunately I'm out of the shop this weekend so will add the pics in the new week.

    Andrew if you can breed a white discus with turquoise stripes I'll come knocking.

    You got in this batch with very dominant vertical stripes?

    LOL, @Vis I think for that sort of discus colour morph we will have to wait for the fundis in the east and see what they come up with next. Off hand I think the closest you will come to matching that would be a white butterfly??

    Perhaps the chaps who recently obtained Tony Tan imports should start a thread or 2.....perhaps we will see some there.

    As for the dominant vertical strips you mention, all my discus are nice and relaxed so nothing showing too prominently.
