    Yeah all good.

The main problem in this hobby that I see is lack of good healthy live stock, even guppies are not like they used to be. It took me two generations to get mine alright again. That's why I think traffic in the sense of healthy fish will be the best way forward for now. Starting progression threads if they want and share experiences and breeding them later themselves. That's the core of the hobby, fish husbandry.

Fixed info to a certain point will also become irrelevant as adaptation is the most important factor. Everything is constantly changing and how you manage that changes is what will make you succesfull in the end or not. Fixed knowledge will tell you how to do something where adaptation will allow you to apply that knowledge to your specific needs. To do that we need to look at the health and quality of our fish first.

The knowledge is already here, it's how it's interpreted that makes the difference.

Agree Wes. I think we have too many importation and too little quality breeders in this country and this is the biggest problem when it comes to quality live stock. Not to mention the quality if available foods. Getting cultures for live foid is near impossible. If we can build this hobby it Will improve and over us better option in the ling run. Discus breeding is a good example of this

I agree that the lack of good quality stock is a problem and the traffic of good specimens is needed to improve that

As for the fixed info, I agree in some ways but I disagree in others
I believe there are two sides to fixed info/knowledge and there is a difference between fixed general knowledge and info on a species which beginners or people interested can read up on before making decisions.
There are things that don't change, habitat, tank mates, water requirements etc..

And there is varied 'fixed' info which as you say can change as times, development, new products and research come on to the market

I think the forum needs both
Before you can do anything, you need the fixed basic info, as time goes and new developments come along, its your call to make changes as you see fit

There is a lot of knowledge on this forum but the species covered by the knowledge we have are very limited and times have changed
Fish that were never available before are now being imported, that's where we need a growth in knowledge, not the species we have had around for years

Unfortunately the species that's been around for years are the ones that's suffering and needs to be corrected first before new species goes the same route but I get what you are saying. Do you have a list of new species that we can go on and try and find some basic info on?

I havent really got a list as such.. I have just been watching what members are posting and what they say that they have bought or are planning on buying ... checking how much info we have and if not much, taking one at a time and trying to put something together in the hope that people find it useful

If a member posted this he would have been banned promptly without explenation or thread would have been deleted.

That being said these species are quite common on a aussie shrimp forum im on and they native so not blacklisted. Was interesting thread.
