    hi guys...

    This is an old thread...

How is the CFL usuage going? Can i have some feedback?

Had an idea to use the floodlight housing to direct light into the tank - let mw know what you guys think. LED lighting is a bit expensive at the moment...

Doing exactly the same in my C02 nano and getting very pleasing results, also now using them to fill in the gaps at the sides of a 1.8m tank, along side a bank of T5s and they actually seem to have greater penetration than the T5s down to 700mm, which I was surprised with..

Use them for smaller tanks that only need 1 light per tank - work good for me. Must admit I have not seen any pearling from them - then again that is not the goal.

BTW they do not like high humidity .. tend to blow when exposed to loads of water.

    hi guys...

well here goes...I went to a local electrical shop but alas, no Philips Tornado's... :(

Ok, next to Pnp Kyalami...and hooray - enough stock for us all!

Well I decided to try them for my tank albeit not a small tank...using a floodlight with the 2 tornados... I know I am opening myself up for criticism but think I will use 3 x 20w Tornados with 1 x Blue CFL.

    Heres the pics...

Just a comparison to the Eurolux 20w cool lamps... As you can see the one on the right is the Philips Tornado.

Hope this assists everyone else that was a little confused...or new to this...

Just browsed the lighting section at Game. Anybody know the difference between 'Daylight' and 'Daywhite'? Is it the same or not? They have T8 'Daywhite' tubes in stock.
