I do not agree with your attitude contained in your posts here. Go read them again and see for yourself. I do agree, as will anyone here, that if you are going to keep monster fish you need the appropriate sized tank.

Good Morning Guys...

all this negativity (wow). I find it so amazing how the min someone has a fish that grows bigger than an Oscar they get blasted. yet we keep two Oscars in 1.2m tanks and no problem there. we overstock Malawi aquariums to disperse aggression. I could go on and on but each to there own and I actually just want to enjoy my fish... WOW TrevorR please could you show me were there is a 3m long gar in an aquarium. biggest I know of is with Vincent wu.

Now as for the gar, when i got the gar i was in the process of building a 20 000l outdoor heated pond, this however became a pool (have to keep wife and kids Happy). However i did have a second plan if something should happen. I do know of someone that has heated ponds (50 000l) to be exact that houses 4 x 1,1m Gars as well as Large red tail cats and a few other fish.
so i kept the gar and enjoyed him till he got to 70cm in a tank of 3.5m x1.2m x800 at this time i had a massive problem as my red tail golden Arowana decided it was time to kill the gar and i had to find a home for him as my second tank of 3.3mx700x700 was not wide enough for him and i landed up rehoming him in the 50000l pond.

he now is sitting at 1m long and enjoying the company of the other gars and doing very well. next time i go visit him ill take a vid and post...

 

In a 50 000 litre pond I have no problem at all

 

So was all of this fighting nesecary.Next time pls wait for the OP to respond before making assumptions.
No problem with discussing matters as it should be encouraged as long as it's done in a civil manner.
