    Hi all

In December my angels spawned for the first time, and I have plenty of good sized juveniles since then to show for it. Since then the pair have spawned regularly, but every time the fry turn white and die......

I think it must be some sort of fungus or something, as they turn white and almost fluffy before they die.....

Please help guys, I don't know how to treat this....

Would say the eggs were not fertile.
    Or
Improve the water conditions if fry have fungus.
Increase wc with some stability or the like.

Maybe fill out the template to get a better understanding.

Hmm, you say "the fry" turn white and die. Does that mean the eggs hatch, then the baby fish die? Or do the eggs turn white and die? Either way I'd say the answer is to try and increase water quality with extra wc etc.

do you keep them in the same tank as the parents or are you moving the eggs to a separate tank?

They are with the parents when the problem occur. I think it is my filtration.... will up it and do more water changes. The tank was very much understocked but since the first batch are now medium sized the bio load is quite heavy on the current filtration. Didn't up my waterchanges accordingly.... :embarrest:

Hi @PappaBear, looking through your other posts and found the thread with pics of your angel pair, WOW those are awesome!

I think the issue you have with fry mortality might be due to a high bacteria count in your tank which may be overwhelming your fry. In my bare bottom tanks I wipe down all the surfaces with a clean cloth or paper towels and squeeze out filter sponges every 2nd weeks, sometimes more often. I do this just before I perform a water change. This also helps keeping planarian in check which could also be attacking the fry. Since your eggs are hatching I dont think you have any issues with planarian since they would also infest the eggs.

    Best of luck.

Thanks Eugene! Very helpful! Will wipe the surfaces more regularly and see how it goes.

Yes @jedigenie is right, most people neglect, wiping down the tank sides and squeezing out the sponges, when you squeeze out the sponges ensure you squeeze them out in your tank water that you have siphoned out, dont use tap water under any circumstances as this will kill the good bacteria.

What size tank do you use to breed in @PappaBear

It is a 250liter tank. 1m x 50cm x 50cm. Only occupants is the breeding pair and the previous batch juveniles.

I would seriously take the previous spawn juvies out if I where you....as soon as the next batch is there the parents will turn on them. 250l is rather large for a spawning tank, 2-3 oot might be easier to maintain.

That 250liter is actually my sump..... the parents got put in there when I had space issues and they spawned... the rest is history..... Have got 50cm cubes which I'll use for breeding and then 3ft 50cm high tank for grow out.

Total agreement with @HennieRoux re the tank size and removing the juvies. Smaller breeder tanks will help immensely with feeding.
