Good morning. I have two tanks that have those janky black lids which wont work for the lighting I would like in the long run. They are both nano tanks. One is 15l and the other 60l. What would I need to set them up with clear covers and where can I get these? Glass is another option but I’m thinking that the handling can get tricky. I am based in Cape Town but open to national options that ship.

    Thank you

I had some (I think 5mm) polycarbonate lids cut at Maizey's, in Paarden Island. It's totally clear without any ribbing, and doesn't sag much at all.
Scratches super easily, so just be aware of that, but otherwise works well.
Just have your dimensions on hand and they'll cut while you wait.

    Glass, you could try Nelsons.

I got a sheet of Polycarbonate Multiwall Clear plastic (6mm) from Cape Acrylics. They usually have off- cuts and can cut you a piece to your measurements. It's used for patio roofing and let's through tons of light. Similar to what MD uses on MDfishtanks. You can custom cut it with a carpet knife and doesnt warp like acrylic. Then just rest it on the tank or get Aquarium lid clips. You're LFS should have those. So far it's the best solution for keeping my cats from drinking out of my tanks:lol:

Thank you. I see Builders also sells Maizey’s items but don’t think the sizing is really right. But I will see about trying to go direct.

Multiwall is a better option. It doesn't sag like acrylic/perspex and it's much easier to cut to size.
