Just wanted to share how nicely my GBRs are colouring up. 2nd pic is of the longfin fella in full warpaint that's taken up residence near my filter intake, not letting anything near him (he even bit my wife's hand - she survived the ordeal with a giggle). Unfortunately the glass is a bit scratched but dont let that detract from some amazingly cool lill fellas.

((Ignore the BL plants, only found that out after I introduced it to my tank))

 

Here are 2 of my favorite peacocks, very shy as they are the dominent ones in the tank. First one is the Ngara and the other is a Steveni.

How do you guys keep your fish still to pose for a photo? My buggers are all over the place which makes for some blurry photos. nice pics btw.

 

Thanks man, the trick is the balance between the aperture, shutter speed and ISO of the photo. When shooting fish like my pic above, you will typically use a large aperture, fast shutter and sensitive ISO. You can see that I used a high ISO with the noise in the background. I also use a CPL to cancel out any reflections.

 

This is a Discus I have been Raising for the past few months. Its just over a year old now. I'm hoping and praying that I can get to breed these guys, only problem being that I only have three of these, which kind of stacks the odds against me. Giant buggers though, this is the smaller one (hopefully female) and she measures 14cm nose to beginning of tail. The two others exceed 16cm on the same measurement. I'll try and get some nice pics of them on here as well.

 

That is SO prettty.... Why does it seem that very little Discus BREEDERS have substrate in their tanks?

Its all part of cleanliness. A bare bottom tank is much easier to keep clean than a substrated tank. I actually made a small brush with airline tubing attached to it with which I scrub and syphon the fry tank daily. They dont take kindly to dirt these guys...
