So I tested my water when I got home last night with my Sera test kit, Ammonia = 0; Nitrite = 0 and Nitrate = 0, so thinking this was weird i would at least expect to see some Nitrates
I checked the expire date of the test kit. lol 6 years ago, ish will have to go buy new test kit tonight. or at least just Nitrate for now.

An LFS could also test for less than the cost of the whole kit, might be worth it if you don't havr cssh to fork out for the whole thing.

@MariaS Thanks, yeah I'm thinking of buying a new 'Master' test kit. Have seen some people say the API kits are not all that accurate, but internet. Good point re the evolution of tank - I was pretty cautious at first, didn't have a lot of fish, but later on it got a bit too busy. I had rams spawning every couple weeks pretty much (free swimmers now and then, even in a pretty busy community tank), and given their stringent water needs, I figured things must just be 'right'. So, all was well. I did 50% water changes every 10 days, got water from a local natural spring until it closed off a while (I used zero treated tap water at that time, and have only just started using it for 50% of changes, with Prime/ Stability). Moving from that to a higher PH RO source also threw a new spanner in the works - this was all around the same time I started having issues, losing my pair of rams and some tetras, making diagnosis harder still. All the while, my Tetra test kits basically gave the SAME readings no matter what! Drove me c r a z y.
One thing I can say, if I didn't have rams, I'd have had far fewer less problems - but what kind of life is that?
I also went through a few medications that often made things worse, etc. Might be nice to have a medication 'rating' sticky, to save us all some time on what works best, brand wise. Melafix and Primafix are often highly rated online for instance, although we don't get these in CT, to my knowledge.

I have a minor ICH issue at the moment which I'm treating with Paraguard (possibly follow that up with a round of Prazipro?).

    Thanks again.
