Yup everything still works 100%, tested the pump and heater in a bucket, filled the tank and no leaks just need a replacement T5.

Larch, one suggestion. I know the hood is designed to fit the heater like the way you placed it, but I would actually recommend you place it in the water like a normal heater... they don't work too well with the top in the hood like that. Tried it out on my Boyu once.

What you do is you adjust the heater to like 20 degrees. When the water reaches 26degrees, the air around the heater top has reached 20, and switches off. But if you have a draft in the room, the air around the thermostat stays cool, and the heater stays on. My tank water eventually reached 32degrees before I noticed this "problem". Fortunately this was my first tank, and I was in the process of cycling.

I will go buy some suckers to stick the heater to the glass this weekend when I go get the plants. Thanks.

Some basics I bought to get the tank started:

Bought a rubber car mat to place it under the tank so that the wood of the table does not get damaged by the water. Table has been treated just in case.

Need to do some work inside the tank, but happy with my progress so far:

Need to sort out the cables but that is no biggie:

Just a really stupid question... why are you not using the hood filter?? That internal looks HUGE in the tank, and will cause WAY too much current for any fish.

The internal filter is hooked up to the hood, it pumps the water from there into the hood were I put the filter wool, batting and the ceramic rings. It then flow through all the media and out the bottom again through little holes.

Don't know why it looks so massive in the pictures though because its not that big really, also it looks like its making a hectic stream because I hooked up a air pump to it to get all the nasties out of the water but about 90% of the water goes to the hood while the rest leaves the front of the power head.

because the sudden chop off of the wood is bit distracting.. just my opinion.. maybe u can use a plant to hide it..

Well its going to get planted but I want some space for fish too and I dont want to clog the whole tank with decor then have none left for any fish.

Ok... still leaves me baffled because the pump looks like a normal internal pump. As far as I recall from seeing all these setups, there isn't normally a venturi type exit like yours has. It should really just be a small pump pumping water into the hood. Here's a pic of my decomisioned Boyu (same design as yours)

Well it is running a venturi setup and it looks pretty much standard on all the Jebo R338 models as far as I can see from google searches:

Looks exactly the same as mine, it is rated at 400liters a hour and max pump height of 0.6 meters.

I could block the hole (with some silicon) were the water exits making it pump all of its capacity through the filter box is that recommended and wont it put extra strain on the pump?

I'm not arguing with you are all larch. It just looked different to what I've seen. If you happy with it that way, then leave it as such. It just looked visually wrong to me.... it's very possible that the refraction of the glass makes it look so much bigger than it is.

I personally am not a big fan of those venturi things, not a big fan of the bubbles that way... but that's personal choice mate. I still reccond you got yourself a brilliant deal there... and with the lighting you have, with nice plants and scaping, you could have a stunning looking Nano tank!
