Is the hang on filter rated at 800L/hour? Or was that the other filter?

I would recommend you get some Seachem Stability to help neutralize the ammonia, nitrites & nitrates in your tank. I have no experience with meds so I can't say for sure, but I can't imagine they would interfere with a test for ammonia etc.

You MUST increase your filtration if you want a stable system.

If your PVC pipe filter works, then by all means use it!

And be PATIENT! Don't change too many things at once.

Hey man. Glad to hear things are looking better. You're not out of trouble yet so as said take it slowly from here.

I used Nutrafin Cycle when I first started and it worked well for me.

What are the meds you are refering to?

    What dechlorinator are you using?

The glass across the top of your tank are called braces. How many do you have and what glass thickness are they?

Was the charcoal filter in your HOb when you dosed the general tonic?

I've used Tetra Aquasafe as well with no ill effects. Did you dose for the tank or the water you changed and how did you do your water change?

I took the carbon out of the. Tank I dosed it for the red gills and fins I took about 20 % water out I then put water in bucket with anti chlorine for sometime and then put the water in. I'm really having peobs with my convicts the just going mad try to bite other fish. They the only ones that was not affected by the water never get sick

Have you still got the carbon pad? Put it back and it will remove the meds.

When you dosed the new water with dechlor, how much did you add? Did you calculate for your entire tanks volume or for the amount of water you changed. Try to put an airstone or power filter into the container you are preparing water in. A lot of guys prepare water for 24hrs but I don't have a storage bin/tank so I add Seachem Stability and Prime to the bucket and airate for approximately 20 minutes. I only add enough for the amount of water I'm changing and not the entire tank.

I think the biting convicts is a Malawi/convict issue and that is why they are kept in species tanks but I have never kept Malawi's so not sure.

How long was the plastic pipe you wanted to rest on the braces and what are you planning on putting inside it?

The pipe is 1 metre long was planning to use the PVC pipe holders glue them on top clip on and clip out I put to the amount of the water I changed just lil more but like 5 ml I'm not sure what filter media to put in the pipe. At the moment got a air stone for oxygen for the meds

    For the pipe:

You could use just plain filter wool, or maybe fill it with ceramic rings(better option in my opinion, but also more expensive).

I had convicts in my Malawi tank and they were all living peaceful.I have lots of rocks and hiding plases so that help.I moved the convicts to there own tank after they had fry and the malawis ate it all.Now I have all my cichlids in there own specie tanks. You can definatly add more circulation for the tank.My tank is 350 liters and I have two internal filters at 1100 L/H and one hangon biofilter at 900L/H.Good luck.
