Thank you, female picked up a bacterial infection so decided to treat the whole tank with formalin, if she doesn't recover enough by Thursday then going to remove her and treat in a hospital tank

at this point, the only logical conclusion I can make is that I haver kept them in cooler temps for too long (hovers between 27-28). raised it to 30 and added extra airstone, will see what happens..

I can safely rule out tank cleanliness as a cause..

another probable reason is that she is taking on too much of the "feeding" duties as the male seems to dodge responsibility, was going to pull the parents after 28 days but might do so abit earlier if I have to.

Iv been told not to do it as it might be construed as bad advise in the hobby and I would not want anyone possibly loosing fish because of me.

Anyways, there are a few guys who do it my way and have done so successfully, but I have my theory as to why they do it and why it works so well. One thing I will say though, is that this "technique" will only work on free swimmers that are less that +-60 as I don't forsee anyone obtaining good results with a bigger batches

Discus are fine at 27 still. Are you 100% sure you didn't maybe kill your bio somehow?

I doubt it as my ph is high as im not using RO. Also the filter was mature when the tank started up and have not used meds up until that point. The formulin will def nuke the bio now but uppinf my WC regime so not too concerned...she is showing slight improvement at this point nothing significant

One thing I noticed was that my pigeon fry are more sensitive towards water conditions than my other turq based fry.... one would assume it would be the other way around as the pigeons are supposed to be more evolved...
