now i dont know about everyone else but these things are starting to drive me mad! i live in an estate and it seems that all the kids have them and they all feel the need to blow them, everyday, starting at bout 11am, and carrying on for the rest of the day:mad:. as if its not irritating on its own i have a very timid dog that doesnt handle noises very well and these things are scaring her to the point where she wont go anywhere unless someone goes with her. i swear iv had three days of this and my patience is running very low, to make matters worse my brothers lil shadow,a kid of 11, keeps blowing one in the house, then wonders why im angry with him i mean really the kid treats my house as his own:evil:. im also trying to do a scientific report for varsity and have another project to do both due for when we get back and all i hear is the vuvuzelas blaarting away grrrrrrrr. these things should have been banned for all the games instead of being allowed for the SA games, apparently they can damage your hearing and honestly i can believe it.

i just needed a place to rant so thanks for reading:blink1:

    Tell me about it!!

THe folk around here have been blowing them round the clock! I was awoken several times overnight by the sound!! I never liked the sound to start with, but now I hate it even more!!

I'm knackered! Woken at 2am, 3am, 430am... Didn't get to sleep til about 1am because of them! Heard them when i awoke at 630am and they are still going! Think I'll go on a vuvuzela rampage!! Silencing them where ever they exist!

If people wanna blow them thats one thing, but what makes someone think its ok to blow a Vuvuzela at 3am??

Also, I'm a sound engineer by trade, so I know how much damage a Vuvuzela can do to your ears!!

Fly, that was my attitude until now, when I have the exact same situation as Windfire. Trying to decide which is more annoying: vuvuzela's, the car alarm that won't stop goin off down the road or the dog stuck in "bark at nothing" mode.
    I feel your pain, Windfire

Not even my hi-fi turned full volume can overpower the taxis hooting, bloody poofyzelas and the shouting and whistling......can you imagine if we lost today? vuvuzelas would turn to gunfire!

Guys dont get me wrong. i love the atmosphere and the country uniting, but i agree, i was in my hatchery at 4am this morn and couldnt think cause of the noise.

great lol im glad im not the only one whose getting irritated. Fly im 22 and im all for supporting your country and all that jazz but when you some snot nosed 13 year old walking down the street it really isnt neccesary to blow it just for the sake of blowing it and making a noise. actually i forgot we where playing today, im not a soccer fan and will probably invest in some good books to take to the pub when my bf goes to watch the games.

they have a really penetrating sound that nothing seems to drown out. in a way im glad my moms taking my dog with her when she leaves for the farm, there'll be no vuvuzelas there. just wish i could go too!!!!

kel-sol i usually have the yapping dog but am so used to it i zone it out, he lives right behind me. now i got the dog and the vuvuzelas and you'll probably find that poor dog barking by you is barking at the vuvuzelas

My wife knows that I must own a porsche some time in my life.

You will be surprised on how affordable they can be.
    Maintainance cost is another factor.

The gees is fantastic - but when you can't escape the noise pollution - even in your own house, after 11pm and from 6am in the morning - then it is taking things a bit too far. It's not like it's music that you can tap your foot to - it's a mindless drone that you can't escape - and it's gonna carry on for a month and then some!!!

My swiming earplugs cost me R50 for two pairs
I was having a conversation with a college today person behind me blew that thing.
Found that to be very rude and gave him shouting he will never forget.
maybe just a slight over reaction from my side
