I know it's not the right thread for this, but I'm planning on turning the 3ft into a planted version, would the clown loaches make for good fish in such an aquarium. The oscars and pleco are moving to a 1.2m tank I'm prepping for them...

No problem with the loaches. Have clowns, polkadot and zebra in my planted tank. As long as you supply the with dome sort of cave they and the plants will be fine

3ft just WAY too small for clown loaches tho...remember, they can grow bigger than oscars!! Which is why the minimum suggested sized tank for them is 6ft (I personally wouldn't put oscars in anything smaller either)

    Agree with Deadpool...
Clown loaches grow slowly yes that is why many people keep them , but they grow huge...
And they are best kept in groups of 5 & more...
In a plantef tank , I don't think so hey - once they get bigger they gonna uproot it.

I've also got some of these little guys coming next week. Read they can be finicky eaters and need to be watched.

Do they look as awesome in real life as in pics?

Ill take a few pictures tommorow they are really very small! They look lost in my 4ft tank. Ive got some shrimp for them to eat hopefully they aren't intimidated by the adult shrimp that's as big as them

    That's awesome!

ive seen them in tanks with Neocardinias so they should be fine :p ...was undecided about putting mine in my 4ft or office nano...now I'm definitely going to put them in the office tank hearing how small they are. :)

They are small but need space in terms of territory.
They have the same behaviour and attitude as rams and a apistos, only in a very small package. It's actually quite funny watching them seeing behaviour of their bigger counter part.

Mine use too wat blood worms and shrimp and nothing else.

@Vis do you think 4 or 5 of these in a 60L (2ft) tank will be fine from you experience?

@Mark K I think you will see a lot of fighting. Then again yours might be have.

They are not schooling fish, each choose a territory and defend it.

Just keep an eye out that one or two does not get bullied and are always hiding away somewhere.

Ps mine loved big bushy Moss, they were always foraging in it for things to eat.

This is the layout of the tank I was thinking of putting them into...will maybe start them off there and see how they do...if they do fight I will look at rehousing them in my 4ft tank...this is where I originally planned to keep them until I read they were finicky eaters so thought the smaller tank would be better so I could keep an eye on them more closely.
