I thought I'd start a new thread on my favourite tank at the moment. I have a 1,5m x 35cm x 35cm tank, smack bang in the middle of my kitchen. It used to have a mixture of fish and plants in it, but it was never interesting or unique in any way. This is what it used to look like:

So I had to find something a little more interesting... I already have an Amazon biotope and I had to find something that would lend itself to the long, difficult to scape tank. I had some coconut shells lying around and had just found some reed roots which I wanted to use somewhere, so the tropical Southeast Asian biotope sprang to mind. It fairly accurately adheres to the Southeast Asian Backwater biotope, but if anyone picks up any mistakes that I've made in my selections, please let me know.

Some pics of the rescaped version as it was some weeks ago. I've planted some crypts in coconut shells and added to the scape. Will take some pics of that when I get a chance.

two more of the fish. I also have a Hillstream loach in the mix. Had to increase flow and insert an airstone into the filter to accommodate him. Latest addition is a school of 10 harlequin rasboras.

    Great looking tank!
Also like the fact that it's not overstocked.
It looks much bigger then 1.5m.

Thanks for the kind comments all. Yeah, the lights are rather fancy pendant downlights, which I had spare from my jewellery shop. Got some 9w led spots for them and they look rather nice.... better than collecting dust..

Very cool - is the circulation sufficient or is the lack the main reason for the low stocking level?

Thanks f-fish. There is ample flow supplied by the filter outlet, which extends about 60 cm into the tank. All plants move slightly. There is also an airstones in the filter, so oxygenation is good.

maybe the pics don't give a good indication of stock.
    6 golden barbs
    10 harlequin rasboras
    2 dwarf gouramis
    Male and female betta
    hilatream loach

still want to add some Kuhli loaches. I think that will be maxing out what a 120 liter tank can hold.

@Broder - Are you sure that is 1.5m? It looks more like 2.5m to me

Haha.. Yup! 1,5 x 35cm x35cm. I had to use a wide angle lens in the confines of the kitchen, so that perspective distortion may be making it look longer.

@Broder I want to build the exact same size tank. What is the glass thickness on yours?
