hey there guys i'm looking at building a stand for my new tank and i'm really confused. wooden or metal, splayed legs or straight. I was thinking if i use wood i could use square planks for the top and chisel half the top bit away so the tank has somewhere secure to stand, i hope that makes sense, my brain isnt working with me tonight lol. uhm would wood be easier? i would just like to add now that i could get steel piping fairly easily as my dad deals in it. but i'm leaning toward a wooden stand as its probably going to be easier and lighter for me to pack up at the end of the year. what wood would be best? for that matter what size steel piping? i've never built a stand for a tank before. any advise? i'm thinking screws would be better than nails to put it together? and of coarse i'd use marine varnish to seal it, its actually not a bad varnish at all.

What I was thinking let someone build you a foldable metal stand.
    How big is the tank?

Unless you can weld(or twist the BF's arm to do it) - wood is an easy option.... If its the tank I'm thinkin of, 4 x 40mm square pine should do for the leggs,22mm top and a frame underneath top of 22mm x 100mm should be enough - Would add a stabilizing frame of 22mm x 50mm pine say 150mm from the floor - could turn it into a little shelf maybe...

Screws will be better than nails yes....Marine varnish is a MUST.... So looks like you will be adding carpentry to your mirriad skills Miss B....Pop in some time and I will draw you a schematic plan + a couple of tips - got an A for woodwork in Matric unlike our dear Juju...lol
