I've noticed a funny thing with our water. About a month ago we shifted from Municipal water to borehole water after getting the pump replaced. There's an old trough outside with a float valve for auto refill that the horses used to use, which is now pretty much just extra water for our dogs. With municipal water the algae used to grow pretty quickly, and i'd need to drain and scrub the trough on a weekly basis. Since we made the switch, i've only had to do it once.

I'd be curious about some testing results, as i've already noticed there's a lot more calcium build up on my tank and in the kettle than there was previously

The dominant fish got that orange throat overnight, he’s clearly a male.

I've only got 1 tank going at the moment with no livestock, just plants, so i've barely paid it any attention. Mostly all i've done is top up and dose ferts about once per week.

Hopefully going to take a sample to an LFS for testing sometime this weekend, as amongst the moves i appear to have lost my test kit

Our tap water is very hard.
We get calcium build up on everything - showers, kettle etc.

But at least our water is ideal for my Tangs

Rifts, Live bearers and yes, rainbows.

I "fought" with my water for many years when I kept South American fish.
Must say, this is a lot easier

Doubt they are a true pair, they only arrived at the LFS within this week. I took the largest male amongst them and then saw a female between the mix in the hope they will produce some fry in the future.

They had a few males and females about double the size, but also at double the price. Wish could take them but at this moment I like the color of the smaller ones a bit more and saving every penny I can for my other Tangs and to set up a small breeding setup again.

Never worked with Bristle nose pleco's for breeding yet, gonna be a first. Did a lot of research on these and being positive that all will work out. Any tips will also be appreciated from people who have been successful.

If these work out I will look at getting super reds perhaps and the long fin versions as well in the hope to source this at more affordable pricing to the lfs that also helps me which in return should help with maintaining/expanding the hobby for me.

The president is visiting us today. I wont meet him but still, he will be on the same premises. There was so much security when I clocked in today, probably 30 people that I saw, and my building is the first one from the gate.
