I have a few more ember tetras and a school of Rasbora Hengeli in quarantine, thanks @Lucky01 !

All destined for the 65L. The Hengel’s rasboras are something a bit out of the ordinary, and a very tight midwater schooler (apparently more so than harlequins and espei).

    Almost the Easter Weekend

    What’s everyone doing ?

We still in some sort of lockdown. So aside from going and sitting in someone’s garden. That’s it. And the forecast really isn’t good. Cold and miserable :(

We’re overnighting at Graaf Reinet then on tomorrow to Maclear to visit family.

My sister in law manages my father in law’s cattle farms on the foothills of the Drakensberg. The ones that stayed with us in CT last year to deliver their 2nd baby who is around 6 months old now :)

On Friday I added one nerite snail into each of my tanks. Bought 2 for the small tank but decided to separate them just incase the one didn't make it in the fry tank. As every bottom feeder I had in there never seemed to survive. Anyway, today I found the one from the main tank on the floor (well my wife did and had a heart attack) dropped him into the fry tank in the hopes that he makes it and we'll I saw him move so I'm guessing he's alive but hasn't done more than retract his foot. The other one that was in the fry tank has seemed to lay an egg capsule on the glass. Looks like a sesame seed and isn't coming off by hand. Really curious I that can be moved to a hatchery of some sort

Nerites require brackish water to breed and have planktonic larvae. I hope to try breeding them someday as a nice challenge.

Had an interesting time lately - our power went out at about 1am yesterday morning. We thought it was just a power failure, which happens quite often here, so we turned on the generator and continued with life as normal. At about 2pm, realised that this isn't normal, and after some investigation find our power cables and the transformer have been nicked. To compound this, there's a fuel valve on the gennie that bust and dumped petrol everywhere. Managed to fix the fuel valve, but then the pull cord snapped when starting it up again. Thankfully it does have a starter motor, but had to go and get a battery. Seems we might be without municipal power for a while too, it can take a while for stolen cables to be replaced.

    Never a dull moment :D
