Travelling has become a total nightmare.

SA is on our red list
We can't come to SA unless there are extremely serious extenuating circumstances.

But even countries on the amber list, travelling to / from them is difficult.

3 Of my 4 Amanos escaped my 2ft tank over the last couple days, through the smallest of lid gaps. Managed to rescue one yesterday, but this morning found two dead. One had somehow made it from my office all the way into our lounge (at least 10m away?).
Crazy. I've had them for months and they've never tried escaping, and my tank TDS is always consistent, all other inhabitants are fine.

Best guess is minor rise in Ammonia from all the load shedding, while my HOB sits idle. That said, very little stock in the tank, so quite strange.
I mention it for anyone else that has Amanos, check your lids if rimless, maybe lower water level. I'll be modifying my lid and have added some Stability, which I'll use occasionally.

I heard about the UK orders rules also. Been thinking of heading there if not home but for us it's a no go currently from here.

SA to here isn't possible without 14day quarantine in a green country for us

It’s so annoying. Last year there were NO restrictions. Anyone from anywhere could come in. Especially in the early part of the year when we could have prevented or at least mitigated COVID coming into the country.
Now, they have all these strict rules making it more or less impossible to travel.

I saw a funny comment on a comedy tv show. Where the comedian quipped. That the current travel restrictions is like putting a condom on at your child’s graduation
    (Hope I haven’t offended anyone)

That last bit made me chuckle so hard

This is true though. But here restrictions were in place from march 2020 and it just hasn't eased in any way. There was an announcement about new laws in place from the 1st of July so just hoping it's in our favour. However now here we need to test once a month and produce our application which shows tested negative within 30days to enter most public places if you vaccinated and 3 days if you're not. So hoping the same goes for us with international travel.

Yesterday my sister in law did the quick (antigen) test which came back negative. So she did another PCR, results pending. Hopefully was a false positive.

Just got mine back, negative. Waiting for the rest of the results.

I honestly start to wonder how accurate all these covid tests are.
My nephew in Germany tested positive on 2 quick result tests, but then went on to test negative on a pcr test the next day.
Your sil has now also tested positive and then negative (also different types of tests).
So how do we ever know that the results we get are true?

Yes so she got the (false) positive, then 3 negatives in a row. She did yet another one today (4th one) through a different lab to make sure.

Washing my ada sand off today to add to a tank (the last of it I might add) my daughter decided to help me by trying to wash it with hand soap ;-; is there anyway to get the soap out of the sand or will I just have to throw it away?

Rinse many many times. Then test it a bowl without fish. If there is soap it will bubble
