Yeah we were fine as well. As I was about to walk out of work at 1pm (shift ends 1pm every day), I bumped into one of my colleagues and I asked her if she went outside as her hair was wet. She got excited and said it was snowing. So I walked out of work into a road full of snow, having to walk to the car park which takes me around 10 minutes. It was snowing for a good full hour and half before it stopped. Also the air temperature dropped to 1.0*C - according to my car driving home from work.

I had a fail of epic proportions just now. Was happily working on the 65L and QT (next to each other) when all of a sudden the shrimp in both tanks started swimming erratically and clearly dying…

I then realised that we treated the puppy with flea drops yesterday and I hadn’t washed my hands before putting them in the tanks

Frantically did a near 100% wc on the 65L, in the process letting the filter run dry and it looks as if it might be gonners. All the while the shrimp in both tanks are literally dying.

Fish seem fine (for now) but I hastily moved the harlequins out of the QT into the 1,5m. They were actually meant for the 65L but that’s not happening.

So now still need to wc the QT but the shrimp are gonners already.

    Thanks @Rainstorm :(

Did a 100% wc on the QT (these big water changes are not great at all for shrimp but I reckoned it’s the lesser of 2 evils).

There are some shrimp in both tanks still alive, including at least 1 of the 2 amanos in the QT, but not sure how many will pull through.

The fish and nerites in the 65L look fine (for now) and I managed to get the filter back on line.

I would just pray that you got to them in time - you'll probably lose a few but if the remaining stay alive, it's a miracle!!!

Wait for the next one and then throw any unwanted items over the wall and blame the storm :D

About a month ago I bought 8 adolfoi corys. I have 3 left. Its very sad, my own fault. Didnt give the quarentine tank enough time to cycle properly, everything went well for the first 2 weeks, then they started developing issues, dying off one at a time. Such a silly mistake on such a fairly pricey fish, not to mention what I put the fish through
